FIAT, our high school youth ministry program, meets on Mondays from 6:30-8pm.
The Latin word fiat means “let it be done”. We hear this word in the story of creation when God says “Let there be light” (Gen. 1:3) and we hear it again at the Annunciation when the angel tells Mary that she will be the mother of Jesus. Her response? “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” (Lk. 1:38)
We call this moment Mary’s Fiat, her “yes” to bearing the Son of God and bringing him into the world so that he could save us from our sins. This simple, humble response from a young girl in Nazareth changed the world! By giving our “yes” to God in our daily lives, we too can bring Christ into the world as we grow together in faith.
FIAT has one simple goal: to bring teens closer to Christ! Anyone in grades 9-12 is welcome to join us on Monday nights from 6:30-8pm in the parish hall.
